Favourite Reads for 2021
I was always a slow reader so when I heard that some people read 50 or even more books each year, I thought they were amazing. However, I guess like everything, with practice my reading speed seems to have improved. So, this year I decided that I would set myself the goal of reading 50 books. But more than that I wanted to read a wide range of different genres. Well, I made it with just a few days to spare.
So, what were my favourites?
I really enjoyed reading Australian authors including Christos Tsiolkas , Pamela Hart, Ewa Ramsey, Kate Grenville, Liane Moriarty, Trent Dalton, Jane Harper, Michael Robotham, Matt Murphy, Mary Anne O’Connor, Mary-Lou Stephens, Rick Morton, Louise Milligan, Darry Fraser. Wonderful writers all, many of whom I hadn’t read before.
From these my favourite reads were:
The Last of the Apple Blossom by Mary-Lou Stephens
Force of Nature and The Survivors by Jane Harper
The Suspect by Michael Robotham
Cardinal by Louise Milligan
I also read several classics. I was quite surprised at how much I enjoyed both My Brilliant Career by Miles Franklin and Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte.
My favourite non-fiction self-help book was Keep Sharp by Sanjay Gupta.
There were several others that were wonderful reads and must be mentioned:
The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins
Years of Wonder by Geraldine Brooks
The Tattooist of Auschwitz by Heather Morris
I can thoroughly recommend all of these great books. But more than that, if you are not in the habit of seeking out Australian authors can I suggest having another look. There are so many amazing Australian authors that everyone should find something to enjoy.
